Crafting Your Ideal Day

Years ago I learned a great technique which is to "Imagine Your Ideal Day." You start by imagining that you wake up in the morning in your most perfect future. It can start with the sounds you hear before you even open your eyes. You might imagine you hear the roar of the ocean waves as they roll up the beach outside your window and the sound of sea birds or a gentle wind blowing through the trees. Or, perhaps you are a city person and you imagine you wake up in a penthouse in New York and can hear the traffic below, horns honking and sounds of the city. If you are a country person, you hear horses neighing in the fields, birds chirping and perhaps the crowing of a neighboring rooster. You then imagine that you open your eyes in this amazing future and see the great opulence that surrounds you: beautiful furnishings, an incredible view out the window. You feel the soft sheets and smell a gentle fragrance in the fresh sheets. It is an incredibly powerful meditative exercise, especially if you do it regularly because it gives strong messages to your subconscious mind along with powerful images of a wealthy, abundant future.
You can do this exercise anywhere and I find it is a great way to start the day. There is something quietly transformative about the first moments after waking. The soft light filtering through the curtains, the gentle hum of the world beginning to stir, and the subtle scent of morning air all invite a pause—a chance to greet the day with intention. Over time, I have come to cherish these early hours as a sacred space, a gentle unfolding of self-care that sets the tone for everything that follows. Crafting a mindful start to the day is not about rushing or checking off tasks. It is about weaving a ritual that honors presence, calm, and a deep connection to oneself.
It is one of the things that fascinates me about ancient culture and I wonder at what point in the development of humanity did we lose our connection to stillness and ritual. The Ancients put intention into most everything they did. Ritual is simply a sequence of gestures or acts set with intention. The intention can be anything you choose and by adding sensory details such a opening a window to invite in fresh air or lighting a scented candle can help you stay present, even if only for a few minutes. In the morning, there is something delicious about a slow, deliberate awakening. Instead of leaping out of bed, I allow myself a few moments to simply be. This pause is a gift, a way to listen inwardly before the noise of the day takes hold. Sometimes I imagine my Ideal Day right there as I lay in bed. Othertimes, I use my bathing ritual as a time to close my eyes in a hot, steamy scented bath and imagine my Ideal Day.
A mindful start to the day is deeply personal. What feels luxurious and calming to one person might differ for another. The key is to listen to your own rhythms and preferences, crafting a ritual that feels like a gentle embrace rather than a checklist. Here are some of the things I have found that have helped me shape my own morning ritual:
Slow awakening: Resist the urge to jump out of bed. Instead, gently stretch and breathe deeply.
Sensory indulgence: Light a candle, open a window, or play soft music that soothes your soul.
Movement: Engage in slow, simple stretches to awaken the body.
Mindful nourishment: Take the time to na nourishing breakfast or tea with intention, savoring each bite or sip.
Journaling: Spend a few minutes writing down thoughts, intentions, or things you are grateful for.
Each element is a thread in the tapestry of your morning, weaving together a sense of calm and presence. Over time, these small acts accumulate, creating a sanctuary of peace that carries you through the day.

Luxury is not necessarily about extravagance but about intention and quality. It is the feeling of being fully present and cared for, wrapped in softness and calm. Consider the textures and scents that bring you comfort. A plush robe, a soft blanket, or a favorite essential oil can turn a simple moment into a sensory delight. I love incorporating ritual bath and body care products that feel like a gentle caress—creams that melt into the skin, oils that nourish deeply, and scents that evoke ancient traditions of healing and renewal.
There is a moment—just before the day begins—when everything is still possible. A moment where you can choose how you will feel, how you will move, and how deeply you will care for yourself.
This is the power of ritual.
Not as an indulgence, but as a quiet act of devotion—to your body, your peace, your becoming. And while your ritual can begin with something as simple as a breath, there is something profoundly transformative about engaging the senses… about allowing touch, scent, and warmth to anchor you fully in the experience. This is why I created Amunari.
Each ritual is designed to help you step out of the noise of the world and into a space that is entirely your own—a space where time slows, the body softens, and the mind gently releases what it has been carrying. A few intentional moments. A bath that becomes a sanctuary. A daily return to yourself.
If you feel called to deepen your ritual, I invite you to explore the collection and discover what your mornings—and your life—can feel like when you begin from a place of presence.
You deserve to feel this way. Every single day. www.amunari.com
